Style File: Peace Love Shea in Gucci

I fell madly in love with this look during the recent New York Fashion Week shows {Bloggers Do It Better: New York Fashion Week Street Style} and immediately started counting down the minutes until I’d have time to shop for similar pieces. And while I’m sure we’d all love to pick up this stunning Gucci outfit & Alexander McQueen coat, I thought I’d try to find something a little more reasonable on the price scale for us mere mortals.

PeaceLoveShea

{Peace Love Shea’s La Vie En Rose}

I love the matching, brilliantly colored top and bottom in this look as well as the chic white touches here. And while this coral is stunning on her, I also just like the concept of a look with an all-over color or print.

Coral Combo:

CoralSuit

{Slim Trouser – $39 @ Mango, Bow Blouse – $28 @ Mango}

These sweet Mango separates are a great choice – Not only do they look lovely together, they’re both great, versatile pieces in general and you’d be able to wear them all Spring.

Blue & White Floral Combo:

FloralSuit

{Printed Cuff Pant – $119 @ Bebe & Floral Print Blazer – $139 @ Bebe}

All-over prints are definitely my Achilles heel this Spring and I absolutely love these pieces. Not only do they look fabulous together, you can easily wear each with black, white, any shade of blue, or even a bright color like purple, fuchsia, or yellow.

Talk about versatile!

White Coat:

WhiteCoats

{Left: White Coat – $79 on sale @ Dorothy Perkins & Right: Tinley Road Classic Claudine Coat – $35 on sale @ Piperlime}

I love a chic white coat – It’s just so classic. So chic. So French!

PeaceLoveSheaDetails

{Peace Love Shea’s La Vie En Rose}

In addition to the amazing main pieces that make up this chic look, the accessories, while understated color-wise, are actually quite high-impact as well.

Clear Clutch:

ClearPlasticClutches

{The Ceres Clutch in Recycled Lucite – $95}

White Shoes:

WhiteHeels

{Pointed Ankle Strap Court Shoes – $44 @ Asos & Mossimo Ankle Strap Heels – $29 @ Target}

That clear clutch is perfection paired with the white heels and white coat – It all comes together to create a perfect look. I can’t wait to give this a try!

MCLV Style File: Miranda Kerr in Victoria Beckham

My fashion crush on Miranda Kerr has gotten pretty out of control in recent months – I just adore how she always looks chic and totally put together whenever she steps outside. Her style is part classic and part modern with great attention to details and always a fun little twist.

I mean seriously, could this woman look more effortless chic or put together?

And I’m not the only one paying close attention to this trend-setter, Modelinia agrees whole heartedly – Miranda Kerr Takes Home November’s Best Dressed Model of the Month Award!

{Tom & Lorenzo}

So let’s not waste a moment more and break down this fabulous, white-hot look so that we can all put together chic little looks like this one for Winter. 🙂

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Black Halo Jackie O Sheath Dress – $350 @ The Trend Boutique, Robert Rodriguez Sequined Midi Tank Dress – $175 @ Shopbop.com & Ecru Ponte Sheath – $80 @ White House Black Market}

Finding the perfect white dress is going to be the key to this look – You want something that suits your personal style as well as your body type. So pay attention to the fabric and fit – you don’t want a peep show – as well as the length, silhouette, and the neckline. You want something that flatters you and boosts your confidence.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Z Spoke Zac Posen Audrey Satchel – $315 @ Piperlime, Aldo Galambos Frame Bag – $110 @ Asos.com & Studded Frame Bag – $70 @ Asos.com}

These retro style ladylike handbags are adorable – Such a fun style with so many colors and shapes available out there. Your choice will be dependent on whether you want to try for a pop of color with a bright handbag or if you’re more interested in putting together a classic black & white look or even going for an all-over white monochromatic style.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: McQ Alexander McQueen Studded Leather Pumps – $215 @ The Outnet, Steven by Steve Madden Miguell Cap-Toe Pumps – $150 @ Dillard’s & Vince Camuto Renees High Pumps – $60 @ Piperlime}

If you don’t already have the perfect pair of neutral heels in your closet this is a must have! They’re a great alternative to classic black and will work with so many looks and occasions. Depending on your personal style you might want to find an embellished or visually interesting pair, or maybe you’re just in the market for a basic, versatile nude heel.

What’s great about this look is that’s fairy basic – Dress + heels + accessories – but there are an endless number of ways to spice it up. From belting the dress to choosing a brilliantly colored handbag to pairing the look with a killer pair of spiked stilettos. Just be sure to inject a little of your unique personality into the look!

MCLV Style File: Ladies Who Lunch – Olivia Palermo

I have to admit, I absolutely LOVE Olivia Palermo’s personal style {this is her second appearance in the MCLV Style File series – see her first here}. She just has such a well-put together, but interesting and creative sense of style, I can’t remember ever looking at a photograph of her an not loving it.

{Oliviapalermo.com}

What I adore about this look is that it’s tailored and stylish, but still versatile enough that you could wear it for a number of events – From a wedding to a work luncheon to a meet-the-parents dinner with your new beau.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Malene Birger Leandro Lace Maxi Skirt – $575 @ Net-A-PorterEmporio Armani Polka Dot Pencil Skirt – $300 @ Farfetch.com & Pencil Skirt In Baroque Print – $35 @ Asos.com}

Depending on how you would like to recreate this look, you may wish to find a pencil-style skirt in an all over pattern or one with panels of lace or printed fabric – A baroque print or dramatic brocade would both be lovely and right on-trend for Fall 2012. Though any style of pencil skirt will be an instant classic and something that you can wear season-after-season.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Alice + Olivia Arie Polka-Dot Blouse – $270 @ CUSP by Neiman Marcus, 213 Industry Natasha Polka Dot Blouse – $90 @ Piperlime & Merona Perfect Polka Dot Blouse – $25 @ Target}

A pussy bow blouse in a polka dot print is another chic, versatile piece to have in your wardrobe, and I highly recommend finding one in a style that suits your figure. I have a lovely one from Zara that looks equally great with jeans and a blazer as it does tucked in a skirt with heels.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Christian Louboutin Indies 85 Pumps With Cut-Out Detail – $995 @ My Theresa, Beverly Feldman Glee Navy-White Striped Pump – $115 @ 6pm.com & Bella Vita Women’s Wow Pumps – $90 @ Foot Smart}

Patterned shoes are going to be everywhere this Fall so don’t hesitate to scoop up a fun pair that you’ll also be able to pair with this look. Depending on your taste you may be interested in heels with cut-outs, mesh panels, stripes, prints, or even dramatic and eye-catching embellishments.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right:  Patrizia Pepe Gold Nappa Leather Skinny Belt – $150 @ FORZIERI Italia, Gold Metallic Lizard Skinny Belt – $35 @ Ann Taylor & G by GUESS Skinny Sequins Belt – $20 @ Guess.com}

The final touches here are going to be gold gold gold! A skinny metallic gold belt and gold jewelry & accessories like a boyfriend watch, thick cuff or bracelet, and small clutch. I think an envelope clutch would also go great with this look, either in gold like Miss Olivia chose, or in black or navy depending on your chosen color scheme.

What to keep in mind about this look is that it features a collection of great individual pieces, any of which can and should be tweaked and adjusted to suit your coloring, personal style, and body type. Just pick and choose the pieces that suit you best!

MCLV Style File: Flower Power

Welcome to another Style File post – Our last outfit breakdown was a killer patterned black & white dress that Poppy Delevingne wore to Berlin Fashion Week and this time we’re going to check out a bright, fun outfit that’s a great way to transition to colder weather now that Fall 2012 is upon us.

{Lovely Pepa}

Throwing a floral blazer over a skirt & top combo is a great idea, it takes this from a basic Summer look to an eye-catching, colder-weather appropriate outfit that can easily be adapted to suit your style and the pieces that you have available in your closet.

The extras for this look are especially great – The long, layered necklaces, chunky bracelets, and oversized gold mens watch are lovely but that handbag is what really stole my heart.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Lc Lauren Conrad Floral Blazer – $50 (sale) @ Kohl’s, ASOS Premium Floral Print Blazer – $55 @ Asos.comTall Co-ord Floral Blazer – $130 @ TopShop}

The key to this look is the floral blazer, finding one that suits your coloring and shape may take some time, but it’ll be worth it since this is such a great piece for Fall.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Rachel Roy Quilted Wrap Skirt – $175 @ Zappos.com, Vince Camuto V-Neck Wrap Dress – $100 @ Shop The Shoe Box & BCBGMAXAZRIA Silk Ruffle Flounce Draped Skirt – $60 @ 6pm}

You could try a sweet blue wrap skirt for this look or you could opt for a cobalt dress and achieve a similar silhouette. It’s the bright colors and eye-catching accessories that make this look work so you don’t need to stress about copying it piece-for-piece.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Marmen Cross Necklace – $250 @ Urban Outfitters, House of Harlow Diamond Cross Necklace – $60 @ Designs By Stephene & Multi Row Cross Necklace – $20 @ Asos.com}

Whether you’re a fan of delicate necklaces or chunky, gold jewelry or silver, wearing a single chain or layering multiple pieces – There’s something fun in this style to suit your personal taste!

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Vince Camuto Gold Boyfriend Watch – $175 @ Dillard’s, Gold and White Links Boyfriend Watch – $55 @ Asos.com & Merona Silver Tone Extra Large Boyfriend Watch – $20 @ Target}

A boyfriend watch is a funky alternative to a cuff or bangle, it adds a masculine touch without taking your look straight to made-for-the-boys territory. Gold or silver, embellished or plain, there are tons of options out there.

Curious how I would interpret this look using pieces that I have in my wardrobe? Tuesday’s MCLV Style: Factory Girl post was actually inspired by this look from Lovely Pepa!

{You can shop similar pieces by clicking these hyperlinks: Floral Blazer – Pim + Larkin from Piperlime, Pleated Black Mini – Zara (one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe, true story), Ankle Booties – Rebecca Minkoff from Shopbop.comFloral Top – Anthropologie, and Jewelry – All from Sasha Maks Vintage

As you can see, you can mix this look up, change colors, and adjust the jewelry to create something fresh and unique, a look that is all yours!

MCLV Style File: Poppy Delevingne

Welcome back to a new Style File Look!

It’s been a while since I put together one of these posts, but this recent look from British model & fashionista Poppy Delevingne really caught my attention so I’m here today to share it with you.

{Poppy Delevingne shot by Altamira: Models Off Duty}

What I love about this look is that it’s chic and well put together, but it’s also exceptionally versatile. It could easily go from a daytime look to nighttime, just as well as it could go from a Ladies Who Lunch outing to – well – Fashion Week in Berlin.

{Inspiration Board on ASOS Fashion FinderLace patterned dress, Marnie Leather Belt from Boticca, Black Marano Glitter Clutch by Anya Hindmarch & Pink and Slate Combo Stingray Sandals }

You could put together a similar look to this one by either belting a fun printed dress or combining separates – From the same brand or you could get creative and mix n’ match different patterns.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: MaxMara Studio Uruguay Dress – $475 @ Matches Fashion, Tahari by Arthur S. Levine Belted Ruffle Dress – $130 @ Nordstrom  & Dorothy Perkins Black & White Print Dress – $50 @ Dorothy Perkins}

This is also the type of look that could translate easily from black & white to color quite well, you just need to make sure that you’re sticking with a subtle pattern, a bold print and bold color together will make the look overly busy.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Alexander Wang Drape Front Print Silk Dress – $295 @ Nordstrom, DKNY Royal Blue Belted Swing Dress – $190 @ StyleBOP.com & Young Threads NYC Inc. Flame of Reference Dress – $75 @ ModCloth.com}

{You can shop similar pieces by clicking on the hyperlinks above and visiting the various store websites}

What’s your favorite part about Poppy’s fun look for Berlin Fashion Week? The subtle all-over pattern or the way she paired an understated Hugo Boss frock with fun, modern grey heels and a hippie-chic silver necklace?

In honor of the Diamond Jubilee across the pond this past weekend let’s show some love for the royal fashions worn by Queen Elizabeth II over the years, as well as the new fashionable royal, the Duchess of Cambridge.

http://www.mrblasberg.com/2012/06/02/the-queens-jubilee-a-tribute-to-a-true-fashion-icon/

Don’t they look great sitting side-by-side? Formal, chic, and well-put together.

Who knew a kerchief could be so regal? I love the Jackie O style coat with the great broach. Parfait!

Pretty pink pleats and a perfectly adorable bow-adorned hat.

Green florals are a great style for Spring, she looks fresh and fashionable, never stodgy.

Want to steal their style and channel these glamorous but demure and chic women?

Classic coats and matching hats are the order of the day.

Source, Source, Source & Source

What’s the first thing that I think of when I’m looking at these ladies? Amazing coats and dresses, and killer lady-like accessories.

London Fog toffee double breasted belted long trench – $150 @ Bluefly.com

Long Cotton Trench – $995 @ Burberry

ASOS Long Line Blazer in Cotton – $125 @ Asos.com

Why not try on a long coat, choose either calf-length or knee-length depending on your height and build. You want a silhouette that will lengthen your form, not truncate it.

MCLV Style File: Olivia Palermo

Welcome back to MCLV’s Style File, today I’ll be breaking the great Spring look from Olivia Palermo below and give you some ideas on where to find the pieces like these ones.

She wore this look at the Men’s Fashion Week shows in Milan in the Fall of 2011. Can you picture a more chic, menswear- inspired look for those shows?

The building blocks of this outfit can be broken down to three basic parts – The chic cropped trousers, the absolutely gorgeous double-breasted sweater coat, and the fierce leopard print heels. Each of these pieces can be adapted as you see fit and paired with a basic white T to finish it off.

{Top: (Left) Vince Camuto ‘Abstract Leaf’ Crop Pants = $100 @ Nordstrom & (Right) Café Capri in harvest tweed – $150 @ J.Crew and Bottom: (Left) Café Capri in wool check – $70 (sale price) @ J.Crew & (Right) Exact Stretch Capri Pant – $55 @ The Limited}

Depending on your personal style you can really change-up the basics of this look, or you can stay true to Miss Olivia’s style choices. With all the floral pants being shown for this Spring you could really spice a pair of cropped pants up if you’re in a daring, fashion-forward mood. As for the fit, you could go for s slim cut, something looser, or a more structured, menswear-inspired style.

{Left: CLOSED Anthracite Double Breasted Knitted Cardigan – $135 @ Stylebop, Center: Loose-fit double-breasted cardigan – $40 (sale price) @ Mango, and Right: FUNKTIONAL Comfort Cardi – $90 (sale price) @ Revolve Clothing}

Depending on the color-scheme that you settled on for your look, the sweater color and style can vary quite a bit. If you go for a bright pant, I would recommend balancing them out with a neutral toned sweater. On the other side hand, if you went with a simple black, white, or neutral colored pant, you could either stick with a monochrome look or go for a contrasting color or patterned sweater.

{Top: (Left) Stella McCartney leopard-print satin wedge pumps – $190 (sale price) @ The Outnet & Sam Edelman Sophie Two-Tone Wedge Sandal – $120 @ Neiman Marcus, Bottom: (Left) Diane Von Furstenberg April pumps – $180 @ Bluefly & (Right) Nine West Flax pump – $75 @ Piperlime}

Obviously floral pants and leopard print heels are a challenge to pull off in combination, so depending on your pant and sweater choices you’ll want to adjust the vibrancy of the pattern in the shoes you wear. Traditionally you’ll want to have a single piece be the stand-out part of a look, rather than having attention bounce from one thing to another and back. So if your pants are going to be bright or eye-catching, try for a more neutral-toned heel.

I promise I wont leave such a long gap between Style File posts going forward, I already have a couple in mind that I know you’ll love. In the meantime, you can look through some of the previous MCLV Style File looks below:

MCLV Style File – Mod Dressing

I warned you.

I fell in love with this shot the first time I saw it on The Sartorialist. What can I say? I’m just a girl who believes in love at first sight. Sartorial soul mates and all that. 🙂

What’s so great about this outfit is the simplicity of it. Dress. Bag. Belt. No muss, no fuss.

Top Left: Theory 'Odalis - Shellback' Dress - $100 on sale @ Nordstrom Rack, Top Right: Raoul Contrast Mod Dress - $190 @ Neiman Marcus, Bottom Left: Shoshanna Tone-on-Tone Check Dress - $190 @ CUSP & Bottom Right: MISERICORDIA dress - $75 @ Yoox.com

The first piece of this puzzle is a basic shift dress. Whether you want to go for a solid colored dress, a subtle pattern or something more dramatic, the key for a shift dress is to find a style that is flattering on you. Long-sleeved, knee-length, sleeveless, mini, pockets… It’s all about the fit and cut.

Top Left: Aria Leather Cross-Body Bag - $120 @ Banana Republic, Top Right: Ted Baker Leelar Patent Satchel - $210 @ Nordstrom, Bottom Left: Calvin Klein Vienna Lock Dr. Satchel - $130 @ eBags.com & Bottom Right: London Fog Hampton Satchel - $140 @ Amazon.com

A solid colored satchel bag is incredibly versatile and the top handle makes it a very east to hold onto bag, especially if you’re, say, a photographer and always busy with your hands.

Top Left: Cross-Stitched Panel Belt - $52 @ Guess, Top Right: Braided Leather Ring Belt - $30 @ American Eagle Outfitters, Bottom Left Leather Bow Belt - $30 @ Gap & Bottom Right: Braided Belt - $40 @ LOFT

A braided or simple belt doesn’t have to be expensive and in either black or brown is a great basic to keep in your closet. I love this bow belt from GAP but you want to make sure that a style like this is worn with a very basic shift dress to avoid over doing it on the cute-factor.

And if the browns & neutral tones of this color scheme don’t suit your coloring, just pick a more flattering color for pieces. Just try to keep them all to a similar color to keep the general idea behind this look in tact.

MCLV’s Style File – Emma Roberts

If you’re looking for a chic holiday outfit  take some inspiration from this Victorian style black and white look that Emma Roberts graced us with a few nights ago.

Source

In case you want to check out the original pairings and runway styling these separates are from the Temperly London Spring 2012 Ready-To-Wear collection.

This look is a great alternative to a traditional cocktail dress for your holiday parties this season. The black and white color scheme keeps it chic and simplistic, the velvet skirt and embellishments on the top add some much-needed flare and the bright bag takes it up a notch and makes it festive.

There are a couple of ways to go with the top of this look,  you can try a simple white lace shirt, a high-neck sleeveless top like Emma wore or keep the Victorian theme going with a cold-weather approved long-sleeved embellished top.

Top Left: Shell Top With Floret Embellishment - $61 (sale price) @ Asos.com, Top Right: Hanky Panky Ariel Lace Turtleneck - $65 @ Nordstrom, Center: Zebra Lace Embellished Top - $75 @ Topshop, Bottom Left: INC Sleeveless Mock Turtleneck Halter Top - $30 (sale price) @ Macys & Bottom Right: Disk Sequin Mesh Top - $65 @ Asos.com

A slinky black velvet maxi skirt is perfect for this winter and a great way to spice up what could otherwise be a lackluster black & white look.

Top Left: T by Alexander Wang Panne Velvet Long Skirt - $315 @ Shopbop.com, Top Right: Velvet Maxi Skirt - $130 @ J Jill, Bottom Left: Maxi Skirt - $50 @ Victoria's Secret & Bottom Right: Velvet Maxi Skirt - $60 @ Soma Intimates

Emma really emphasised the gothic romance of this outfit with her gorgeous drop earrings, which complement the intricacy of the look without taking it over the top.

Top Left: Eliot Danori Autumn Array Cubic Zirconia Drop Earrings - $70 @ Macys, Top Right: Badgley Mischka Multi-shaped Stone Crystal Chandeliers - $170 @ Charm & Chain, Center: Dana Kellin Silver Quartz Faceted Pear Shaped Drop Earrings - $225 @ Endless.com, Bottom Left: 2028 Aurora Borealis Bead Drop Earrings - $25 @ Macys & Bottom Right: Badgley Mischka Jet Crystal Cluster Earrings - $95 @ Charm & Chain

And a festive clutch in a bright holiday color is the perfect final touch to finish off this look. Whether you choose red, green, gold or silver, be sure to pick something that catches the eye and doesn’t blend in with the black and white of the outfit.

Top Left: Tusk Women's Donington Bag - $110 @ Endless.com, Top Right: Embossed Telegram Clutch - $60 @ Madewell, Center: BCBGeneration Bella Foldover Clutch - $70 @ Macys, Bottom Left: Kate Spade Portola Valley Fae - $75 @ Zappos Couture & Bottom Right: Suede Envelope Clutch - $30 @ American Apparel

While you can’t see Emma’s shoes in these pictures I would go with a pair of black peep toes or a simple strappy sandal in black or a dark metallic shade (think about matching the earrings or a piece of clothing, not the clutch). And be sure to check the shoes with the skirt before you step outside, straps and buckles may catch on the velvet and cause issues later in the night if you’re not careful.

Now slap on some red lipstick and head out the door!

And in case you’re curious how the designer herself might mix-n-match the black & white pieces of her collection check this out. Seeing Alice Temperly here is a really great example of how you can take the basic idea for a look and make it your own or – as is the case here – make it more mature and more appropriate for a certain setting. By wearing long sleeves and cinching her waist with a jeweled belt she makes the look as elegant and sophisticated as Emma makes it youthful.

MCLV’s Style File – Rosie Huntington-Whiteley & Miranda Kerr

Recently Victoria’s Secret models Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Miranda Kerr both stepped out in slim black pants, a loose, hippie-licious cream blouse and pointy-toed heels. What’s great about this outfit is that its chic and put together, but simple and easy to recreate on your own.
Enjoy a breakdown of the two similar outfits, both parfait pour this fall!
{Miss Rosie Huntington-Whitely}
{Mrs. Orlando Bloom}
Whether you want to go for a relaxed, bohemian silhouette, an eye-catching patterned fabric, or keep your top casual you can find a way to get this look to work for your own personal style.
{Top Left: Ruffle Collar Blouse – $55 @ Asos.com, Top Center: Silk charmeuse blouse – $70 (on sale) @ J Jill & Top Right: Haute Hippie Bib Blouse – $300 @ Shopbop.com. Bottom Left: D&G Cream Butterfly Print Silk Chiffon blouse – $150 @ Bluefly & Bottom Right: Ruched Back Pussybow Blouse – $55 @ Asos.com}
For pants that are a similar styles to those pictured above you could either go for nighttime glam like Rosie and try out some faux leather pants, or daytime chic like Miranda and try out some ankle-length leggings or slim denim pants.

{Left to Right: Bright Denim Skinny Jean – $60 @ NY&Co, Shiny Faux Leather Skinny Trousers – $70 @ TopShop, Current/Elliott Skinny Twill Cargo Pants – $90 (on sale) @ Neiman Marcus & 901 Legging – $170 @ JBrand}

And what brings both of these looks together? The sleek and dramatic patent leather pointy-toe pumps that both ladies chose when they put together their outfits.

{Top Left: AK Anne Klien 7Crista in Red Patent – $50 @ 6pm.com, Top Right: Dina Snake-embossed Pumps – $75 (on sale) @ Talbots.com, Bottom Left: Tahari Seude Pointy-Toe Pumps – $55 (on sale) @ Lord & Taylor & Bottom Right: Roberto Festa Lizzie Patent Slingback – $110 (on sale) @ footnotesonline.com}
Depending on what time of day you’re rocking this look or where you’re headed, I would adjust the accessories accordingly. To mimic Miranda’s relaxed and low-key style for a day of errands you could try adding a pashmina (large scarf) and some killer shades to the basics that you already put together above.
{Top Left: Woven Fringe Scarf – $40 @ Ralph Lauren, Top Right: Cream Fluffy Snood – $25 @ TopShop, Bottom Left: Ray-Ban Large Classic Wayfarer – $145 @ Piperlime & Bottom Right: Fantas-Eyes Women’s Old School Resin Sunglasses – $30 @ Endless.com}
If you’re planning a night out on the town or have a girls night out coming up you can channel Rosie’s bombshell take on this look and dress your outfit up with a flashy clutch, blingy cocktail ring, and bright red lips.
{Top Left: BCBGeneration Devan Convertible Clutch – $60 @ Dillards, Top Right: Felix Rey Superstar Wristlet – $110 @ Endless.com, Center: Rouge Coco Lipshine – $35 @ Cusp, Bottom Left: RACHEL Rachel Roy Cluster Cocktail Ring – $45 @ Macy’s & Bottom Right: Lisa Stewart Oval Cocktail Ring – $55 @ Pink Mascara}
What do you think of these looks? Do you enjoy the well-chosen basics that these ladies picked out and the individual way that they each made the look their own?

MCLV’s Style File – Olivia Palermo

I have to confess that when I was googling Miss Palermo’s look from her guest stint on Project Runway (which I only knew about because TLo posted pictures here) I had to look her up on Wikipedia because, here’s the confession part, I had no idea who she was. I’ve seen pictures of her and seen her mentioned in magazines, but I didn’t know what she did or what her role in fashion was.

So just in case there are others of you out there who don’t watch TV, she was on a reality show called The City a few years ago, but the more interesting facts are that she worked for Diane Von Furstenberg and in the accessories department of Elle. Jealous! Can you imagine meeting DVF?

What do I love about this outfit? She picked a great, stand out piece and made it the central focal point and while the rest of her look is well put together, she lets it stay in the background so it’s not too busy. And being in the midst of a gold jewelry obsession myself, I really liked her accessories.

Well done!

Rather than break out each individual part of this look, I’ll give you the skirt itself and then breakdown the other major pieces.

The Tucker maxi skirt in Stacking Doll Polka can be found here at Piperlime. Normally $310, it’s currently on sale for $217. This skirt is great because its fresh and fun, but still completely in keeping with both the 70’s and the polka dot trends for fall. Just look at the Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 RTW show here.

MCLV’s Style File – Miranda Kerr

Welcome back to MCLV’s Style File for a breakdown on this great low-key outfit spotted on Victoria’s Secret model and busy mom Miranda Kerr in Australia a few weeks ago.

MirandaKerr

What I like most about this look is the high-low combination. The striped dress is stylish but casual and comfortable, the blazer is well-tailored and adds a bit of structure, and the red bag is an eye-catching splash of color that completes the look.

See below for some affordable picks for these pieces:

{Left to Right: G-Star – $78 @ Asos, French Connection – $78 @ Bloomingdale‘s & Swell Paula Dress – $55 @ Swell}

Depending on your mood you could rock a casual black and white striped mini like Mrs. Orlando Bloom, go for nautical-inspired navy & white stripes, or even pair a striped maxi dress with the rest of these pieces.

{Left to Right: Classic Blazer – $98 @ GAP, Boyfriend Blazer w/ Striped Cuff – $98 @ Asos & Cuffed Blazer – $80 @ Victoria’s Secret} A cropped or fitted blazer, boyfriend blazer, or even a casual rolled sleeve blazer would all work well in this outfit. You can follow Miranda’s lead and go for a classic black or navy blazer, but I think that a neutral tan or grey would look lovely as well.

{Left to Right: ADELAIDE Leather Chelsea Ankle Boots – $80 @ Asos, Sofft Cadence – $110 @ Shoebuy.com & Nina Bold – $50 @ Shoebuy.com}

You can give your look a sassy twist with a pair of flat ankle boots or lace-up heeled Oxfords, or you could even try a simple pair of black ballet flats depending on your personal style and – of course – how far you’re planning on walking.

{Left to Right: Longchamp ‘Le Pliage’ Medium Shoulder Tote – $100 @ Nordstrom, Contrast Colored Quilted Handbag – $65 @ Oasap & Kate Spade New York Tote – $175 @ Piperlime}

I know that these bags are a little pricier than the other pieces that I picked out above, but they’re all quality pieces that you’ll really be able to hang on to. I’m a huge fan of Longchamp’s Le Pliage line as well as simple Kate Spade totes, there’s really something for everyone in this eye-catching hue!

MCLV’s Style File – Kate Middleton

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to dress like a Duchess?

While the commoner formerly known as Kate Middleton’s recent straight-from-the-runway Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2011 look could run you a couple thousand dollars (blouse $1,355 & skirt $995 @ Net-A-Porter) you can definitely put together a similar look for less.

(L to R) See by Chloe - $240 (sale) @ My-Wardrobe.com, Paul & Joe Sister - $70 (sale) @ TheOutnet.com & Tibi Military Bodysuit - $83 @ Tibi.com

(L to R) AK Anne Klein - $50 @ Macy's, Moschino Cheap & Chic - $100 @ Outnet.com & MARC by Marc Jacobs - $330 @ Bloomingdale's

If a pencil skirt and blouse combo isn’t quite your style or you’re looking for an outfit that’s a little easier to put together, a navy double-breasted shirt dress is a great alternative, like the examples below.

(L to R) Laundry by Shelli Sega - $105 @ Bluefly, ABS by Allen Schwartz - $150 @ Lastcall.com & JCrew - $130

The perfect finish to this regal look are a pair of classic navy pumps, heeled Oxford’s or peep toed heels.

(L to R) Pilar Abril - $105 @ Endless.com, Giani Bernini - $90 @ Macy's & Badgley Mischka - $120 @ Bluefly
