Welcome to another Style File post – Our last outfit breakdown was a killer patterned black & white dress that Poppy Delevingne wore to Berlin Fashion Week and this time we’re going to check out a bright, fun outfit that’s a great way to transition to colder weather now that Fall 2012 is upon us.

{Lovely Pepa}
Throwing a floral blazer over a skirt & top combo is a great idea, it takes this from a basic Summer look to an eye-catching, colder-weather appropriate outfit that can easily be adapted to suit your style and the pieces that you have available in your closet.

The extras for this look are especially great – The long, layered necklaces, chunky bracelets, and oversized gold mens watch are lovely but that handbag is what really stole my heart.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Lc Lauren Conrad Floral Blazer – $50 (sale) @ Kohl’s, ASOS Premium Floral Print Blazer – $55 @ Asos.com & Tall Co-ord Floral Blazer – $130 @ TopShop}
The key to this look is the floral blazer, finding one that suits your coloring and shape may take some time, but it’ll be worth it since this is such a great piece for Fall.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Left to Right: Rachel Roy Quilted Wrap Skirt – $175 @ Zappos.com, Vince Camuto V-Neck Wrap Dress – $100 @ Shop The Shoe Box & BCBGMAXAZRIA Silk Ruffle Flounce Draped Skirt – $60 @ 6pm}
You could try a sweet blue wrap skirt for this look or you could opt for a cobalt dress and achieve a similar silhouette. It’s the bright colors and eye-catching accessories that make this look work so you don’t need to stress about copying it piece-for-piece.

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Marmen Cross Necklace – $250 @ Urban Outfitters, House of Harlow Diamond Cross Necklace – $60 @ Designs By Stephene & Multi Row Cross Necklace – $20 @ Asos.com}
Whether you’re a fan of delicate necklaces or chunky, gold jewelry or silver, wearing a single chain or layering multiple pieces – There’s something fun in this style to suit your personal taste!

{Indulgence to Savvy Shopper – Vince Camuto Gold Boyfriend Watch – $175 @ Dillard’s, Gold and White Links Boyfriend Watch – $55 @ Asos.com & Merona Silver Tone Extra Large Boyfriend Watch – $20 @ Target}
A boyfriend watch is a funky alternative to a cuff or bangle, it adds a masculine touch without taking your look straight to made-for-the-boys territory. Gold or silver, embellished or plain, there are tons of options out there.
Curious how I would interpret this look using pieces that I have in my wardrobe? Tuesday’s MCLV Style: Factory Girl post was actually inspired by this look from Lovely Pepa!

{You can shop similar pieces by clicking these hyperlinks: Floral Blazer – Pim + Larkin from Piperlime, Pleated Black Mini – Zara (one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe, true story), Ankle Booties – Rebecca Minkoff from Shopbop.com, Floral Top – Anthropologie, and Jewelry – All from Sasha Maks Vintage}
As you can see, you can mix this look up, change colors, and adjust the jewelry to create something fresh and unique, a look that is all yours!

In honor of the Diamond Jubilee across the pond this past weekend let’s show some love for the royal fashions worn by Queen Elizabeth II over the years, as well as the new fashionable royal, the Duchess of Cambridge.
http://www.mrblasberg.com/2012/06/02/the-queens-jubilee-a-tribute-to-a-true-fashion-icon/

Don’t they look great sitting side-by-side? Formal, chic, and well-put together.

Who knew a kerchief could be so regal? I love the Jackie O style coat with the great broach. Parfait!

Pretty pink pleats and a perfectly adorable bow-adorned hat.

Green florals are a great style for Spring, she looks fresh and fashionable, never stodgy.
Want to steal their style and channel these glamorous but demure and chic women?

Classic coats and matching hats are the order of the day.
Source, Source, Source & Source
What’s the first thing that I think of when I’m looking at these ladies? Amazing coats and dresses, and killer lady-like accessories.

London Fog toffee double breasted belted long trench – $150 @ Bluefly.com

Long Cotton Trench – $995 @ Burberry

ASOS Long Line Blazer in Cotton – $125 @ Asos.com
Why not try on a long coat, choose either calf-length or knee-length depending on your height and build. You want a silhouette that will lengthen your form, not truncate it.

You can also see my favorite Kate Middleton looks broken down in this MCLV Style File or this Looks of the Week post.

When I think about the Kentucky Derby I think about hats. Pure and simple. Reminds me of the formal get-togethers that are hosted by the European elites, but with a country twist and plenty of bourbon.

Source
So as we did with the Royals last year, lets judge us some hats while we mentally and sartorially prepare ourselves for the MET Gala that will be going on later on tonight.

Source
Mint Julep anyone?

Too. Cute. Totally Southern appropriate. Totally adorable.

Amazing styling. I want alllll of her jewelry. And that bag. Wow do I want that bag!
Source

This Carolina Herrera confection is pretty stunning. Debra’s outfit wasn’t fabulous, but I really the combination of her hat and beautiful pearl necklaces. Very ladylike and proper, and quite appropriate.

I kind of love this. She did a great job of adding a hippie/boho vibe to a traditional Southern event, which makes her look much more personalized. And he’s adorable, but needs to get his suits tailored stat.
Source

One of my favorite snaps from the weekend! Her hat is dramatic, as expected, but also elegant and tasteful. And the styling of her look is really fun and unexpected.
Source
Clearly the female fashion at the Kentucky Derby is all about the hats – dramatic, eye-catching hats – but what do the men who attend this type of event wear?

A straw hat and pastel button down are just what the doctor ordered!

When in doubt go with low-key neutrals and keep your look chic but understated. You’ll actually stand out at an event like this one!

What was your favorite look from the 2012 Kentucky Derby? Would you throw together a traditional Southern look if you got an invitation next year?

I always give a little sigh of relief when all of the Fashion Weeks are over – There’s a lot to keep up with, a lot going on, lots of photos to try to find and websites to link and models to track down… It’s pretty exhausting even from a distance, I can’t imagine actually being there!
So, to celebrate the end of a month of fashion here’s a Looks of the Week post filled with fabulous, relatable styles that we mere mortals can emulate.

Such a great, easy look. A chic black pantsuit is a great alternative to a cocktail dress. Though most of us aren't running around in Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 pieces. Unfortunately...
Source

Stacy Keibler rocked a stunning blue Asos dress that showed off just a hint of skin. This is a great cocktail frock because the longer hemline offsets the flash of midriff to keep it on the classy side.
Source

This is a great mens coat. I love the contrasting belt, faux fur collar & double-breasted buttons. Not a huge fan of facial hair or short pants on men though...
Source

I'm still in full coat mode and I love that this is a lighter version, more of a "preparing for Spring" type coat than a winter coat.
Source

Late Afternoon has a knack for pairing pieces you might not guess would look phenomenal together. Yellow jeans, a white lace top and a floral midriff baring top? Perfection! Spring anyone?
Source

In the mood for florals to get a jump on Spring? Check out Modelinia’s Model Style File: Flirty Florals.

Does it get more chic than this? Cropped black skinnies, pointy-toed pumps and a black leather motorcycle jacket. Fabulous.

Wow. I mean. Just wow. It can be hard to pull off the menswear inspired suit on the red carpet, and trying to spice it up with a little sexiness can fail. But Miss Evan Rachel Wood knows how to do it right. Love the shoes paired with the Jason Wu suit.
Source

So chic! Taylor Tomasi-Hill looked phenomenal in polka dots, wide leg pants and a great belt in Milan.
Source

This is hardly a typical mini skirt look - I like sequined collar on the bright red blouse and the fun zipper clutch. They both keep it far from boring.
Source Want to try a great polka dot look? Eat, Breath, Fashion has some inspiration & ideas on finding the perfect look. Or you can check out the MCLV Style File on Olivia Palmero‘s polka dot skirt!

Stay tuned this week for summaries from the Fall 2012 Paris Fashion Week shows, the front row looks and a very special Moi Contre La Vie giveaway.

This past week had some beautiful holiday looks, chic outerwear and great daytime outfits that I just had to share. Enjoy the eye candy!

Miss Rosie shows us just how to dress for a casual day out and about. The extras here are the key, on top of slim jeans and a basic sweater she layered a beautiful rust colored cropped leather jacket, a leopard print scarf, slouchy boots and a to DIE for Celine bag.
This isn’t Rosie’s first time showing off a fun twist on a basic leather jacket, check out her gorgeous appearance at a Burberry show earlier this year
here.
Basically, you’ve been asleep if you haven’t noticed that 2011 was the year of Rosie – The Frugal Fashionista has her best looks
here and Tom & Lorenzo have brilliant and entertaining commentary on her red carpet looks
here. Swoon!

Kate Middleton looked gorgeous in velvet Alexander McQueen and stunning diamond jewelry. Beautiful hair, beautiful makeup, just beautiful.

I love this vintage look from fashion blogger Late Afternoon. The pleated white dress, chunky gold jewelry and big Jackie O glasses are perfection.

I'm not always a huge fan of asymmetrical hemlines, but Poppy Delevigne proved here that she can pull just about anything off and this color looks phenomenal on her. The boots were what really caught my eye though, I'm loving rock n' roll touches right now.

I don't usually include editorials in my Looks of the Week posts but I absolutely fell in love with this shot of Kate Beckinsale for Harper's Bazaar Russia. She looks so adorably mod and Spring-y that I couldn't help but feature her. Great color scheme and styling for this shot, I especially adore the white sunnies.

Not only is Hanneli Mustaparta stunning, she puts together a great outfit. Rather than looking like a Halloween caricature in orange and black , she looks chic and stylish. Need those shoes and clutch STAT. Great example of how to pull of the day clutch look, carry another bag for the rest of yours stuff!

Need some pretty to start off your week? Me too.
Carry on!

I love it when celebrities wear real clothing! 🙂 Check out Kate Middleton looking adorable in Zara.
Want to make this dress your very own? Zara recently created an online shopping website so you can order online even if there’s no Zara in your city –
Lace Tulip Dress.

Caroline Sieber's dress here is very pretty, but what caught my attention were her shoes! I'm loving this multi ankle strap trend, its chic and fun.

While I'm not 100% sold on this color for Miss Rachel, I have to admit that she looks phenomenal. Its glamorous and retro, perfect for your movie premiere.

My favorite part is definitely the back, so gorgeous!
Source

I completely adore Olga Sherer's outfit here, it's my ideal fall look. I especially like her blazer w/ a touch of leopard print at the sleeves.

Amber Heard has been making quite the splash lately on the Red Carpet. I love that this menswear inspired look manages to be sexy, retro and glamorous rather than androgynous.

While Elizabeth Olsen's red carpet looks may be hit or miss, her street style seems to be right on. Chanel button down and Elizabeth & James (awww) pants. How adorable and comfy do those pants look?

Coco Rocha in Zac Posen at the Letters to Haiti US Premiere. I ADORE the details of this dress and I'm so glad that she didn't shy away from jewelry, this dramatic spiked collar is perfection!

Wow. Just wow. Head to toe wow.

Garance Dore captured this great look - I love the double-breasted red coat, the wide leg plaid pants and the gorgeous tan bag.

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to dress like a Duchess?
While the commoner formerly known as Kate Middleton’s recent straight-from-the-runway Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2011 look could run you a couple thousand dollars (blouse $1,355 & skirt $995 @
Net-A-Porter) you can definitely put together a similar look for less.

(L to R) See by Chloe - $240 (sale) @ My-Wardrobe.com, Paul & Joe Sister - $70 (sale) @ TheOutnet.com & Tibi Military Bodysuit - $83 @ Tibi.com

(L to R) AK Anne Klein - $50 @ Macy's, Moschino Cheap & Chic - $100 @ Outnet.com & MARC by Marc Jacobs - $330 @ Bloomingdale's
If a pencil skirt and blouse combo isn’t quite your style or you’re looking for an outfit that’s a little easier to put together, a navy double-breasted shirt dress is a great alternative, like the examples below.

(L to R) Laundry by Shelli Sega - $105 @ Bluefly, ABS by Allen Schwartz - $150 @ Lastcall.com & JCrew - $130
The perfect finish to this regal look are a pair of classic navy pumps, heeled Oxford’s or peep toed heels.

(L to R) Pilar Abril - $105 @ Endless.com, Giani Bernini - $90 @ Macy's & Badgley Mischka - $120 @ Bluefly
Read TLo’s comments on this outfit here.
This isn’t Kate’s first navy & white military-inspired outfit, see below for other classic looks she’s worn with the same style.
