There are fashion book parties. And there are fashion book parties.
By which I mean, there are fashion books, and there are fashion books written by the one and only Karl Lagerfeld.

Fashion insiders, celebrities, models, designers, photographers, magazine editors, Chanel-lovers, and Karl’s international flotilla of muses all flocked to Soho to celebrate the launching of this gorgeous coffee table book. The event was held in an elegant loft space which perfectly complemented the black and white photographs blown up from the book that adorned the walls and acted as the perfect background for the primarily Chanel-clad guests.

Even her sexy sequined gown couldn’t outshine Joan’s smile! Wow!

It’s all about the black & white to stand out in red carpet photographs – These models definitely know how to make a a high impact entrance.

The statuesque Karolina Kurkova struck a pose in all-white, not a feat for mere mortals.

Never one to fade into the background, the stunning Hanneli Mustaparta posed with Caroline Winberg in everyone’s favorite Stella McCartney dress this season.

There was lots of Summer white to enjoy at this event, from hippie-inspired maxi dresses to chic dresses and separates, these ladies know what works best for them.

The Mad Men star looked phenomenal in a traditional Chanel tweed jacket in pale lemon yellow
And the surprise guest? Freja Beha Erichsen, whose photograph appears in the book, emerged for a night out on the town after having mysteriously sat out the last season of runway shows.

Biker chick chic!

Happy Saturday! I know that one of the reasons that I enjoy street style blogs and front row pictures during Fashion Week is that it can really get your personal creative juices flowing. Seeing interesting new ways to pair pieces and fun mixing n’ matching can give you a fresh perspective when you look into your own closet.
Alright, ready for some cute looks from the always entertaining LFW? Lots of brights, lots of fun, warm fabrics like tweed, wool and cashmere and lots of fresh patterns and prints. I feel like the looks that people put together for London Fashion Week are a little more fun and irreverent than New York Fashion Week… What do you think?

My absolute favorite look of London Fashion Week was Poppy's adorable blue polka dot pants with great t-strap heels, a cropped blue coat and a chic blouse. J'adore!

Marie Claire fashion editor Zanna Roberts Rassi was one of many who embraced the new floral pants trend. She kept them as minimal as possible by pairing the bright prints with basic black on top.
FabSugar even made a bold floral leggings look their Look of the Day.Are you brave enough to rock this new trend?

Alexa Chung and Poppy Delevingne wore similar looks in London - A brightly colored print skirt, a solid top and a blocky shaped overcoat - similar building blocks that come out to two distinctly different looks.

The gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kate Bosworth shown front row at Burberry. I like that both of them look warm and comfortable, they didn't try to brave a London winter in summer pieces. P.S. Kate's wearing the Pre-Fall booties that I wanted!!!

Rosie's look was so cute I thought a close up was necessary. I love the colors, fabrics and layering here. Purple cords with a salmon sweater and grey sweater-coat? But somehow it works! Works well!
Garance captured even more fun floral looks on the streets of London and My Dress. My High Heels. My Style. has a full list of all the Burberry arrivals – from Poppy & Clemence to Donna Air and Ellie Wintour.

Rose Byrne's new hairdo almost outshone her adorable Pringle of Scotland dress. Almost.

London Fashion Week It Girl Poppy stays warm with a classic trench over her adorable green pleated skirt, striped top and gorgeous lace-up platform booties straight from the runway.

Seriously cute Burberry look - The patent shoes and bright orange shoulder bag are to die for!

Ready for some non-Fashion Week fashion? Yes, they’re still rich, famous, beautiful and hanging out places we’re not invited, but I can promise that they’re not sitting front row at a fashion show though!
The 2012 Elle Style Awards:

Tali Lennox wore a dramatic, sheer Julien Macdonald gown with a flashy metallic belt. I'm sure that the grey, white & yellow confection was eye-catching in person, but I was most impressed by the intricacy of the frock.

Clearly I'm just as ready for Spring as Poppy, I sat up a little straighter and smiled a little more when I caught sight of her adorable Mary Katrantzou for TopShop dress. Too. Cute.
Source

There were peplum dresses galore at NYFW so it was nice to see a fun, basic way to wear one from Evan. The black patent bow belt paired with the t-strap heels were perfect!
Source
Writers Guild Awards:

So. Cute. No idea who she is, but this is adorable and age appropriate. If I could get away with wearing this, I'd be alllll over it!

I like this dress because its different. Head-turning without being scandalous or revealing, you would definitely take a second look when she walks by.

Personally, I can't wear rompers, they just do not work for me. That being said, when I looked at this picture all I could think was "Spring's coming!!!" Super cute and fun.
Marni for H&M Collection Launch:

This look is exactly what I pictured when I heard that Marni was designing a collection for H&M. Interesting combinations of prints and fabrics with a fun vintage twist. Imogen Poots looks absolutely great in this silk dress!
In case you didn’t get a chance to check out the video yet, Imogen Poots was actually the star of Sofia Copola’s
commercial for the Marni for H&M collection.

Adorable! I probably would have worn tights instead of pants with the great embellished tunic, but Jaime looks pretty great here. Love the headband.

Sofia Copola has great, low-key personal style and this look is perfectly her. Its fun, funky and has a great retro feel with the pattern and shimmery fabric.

I love polka dots and this look (or parts of it) probably would have been what I picked. I really like the bright blue and white combo - very crisp. Go Hanneli!

These are really beautiful colors on Jayma - she looks phenomenal in jewel tones but you have to admit she looks pretty great in these iridescent pastels as well.

LOVE. The styling is perfect for this simple, chic shift.
The 2012 Goya Cinema Awards:

Veronica Echegui's Gucci gown was head-turning and dramatic, that belt was the perfect accessory!

Mar Saura looked stunning in Ralph & Russo. I really love these shimmery, shiny pale gowns but they can be really hard to pull off - she makes it look effortless here.
Vanity Fair and Juicy Couture “Vanities” 20th Anniversary:

Shailene Woodley looked stylish and all grown up in her Bird by Juicy Couture jumpsuit. Very chic!

Kate Mara clearly wanted to prove that her sister wasn't the only one who could make a splash on the red carpet. Her zip-up Bird by Juicy frock is a little bit cheeky, but still very cute. Too bad she didn't throw on some brightly colored pumps!
2012 Brit Awards:
There was clearly no set dress code as the looks on this British red carpet ranged from wildly entertaining to newscaster demure – some almost reminiscent of a 90’s boy band era Grammy or VMA red carpet. Where are Justin & Britney in their all-demin outfits when you need them?

(L to R) Rihanna, Jessie J & Adele

(L to R) Caroline Flack, Cher Lloyd & Abbey Clancy
Does this give anyone else Spice Girls flashbacks?

One of the best parts of Fashion Week is getting the chance to see what all the fashion insiders (designers, models, editors, celebrities, buyers, photographers, writers…) wear to the shows and the looks they put together for the seemingly endless parade of events, dinners, parties, store openings, and galas over the course of the week. As breathtaking as the runway shows are, the vast majority of the looks aren’t exactly “street ready,” so that makes it especially fun to see how real people can wear the types of pieces we see on the runways.

Mr. Kors had QUITE the fan club in his front row - Fashion icon Angelica Houston, actresses Debra Messing and Paula Patton, gorgeous newcomer Amber Heard and new mom Jessica Alba.

Ashley Smith & Lindsey Wixson at the Annabelle Dexter Jones x Faith Connexion Dinner. I like Ashley's hair and Lindsay's dress.

Damn she's good! I can't decide if I love the chic, twisted burnt orange frock or the layered gold & gem necklace more... Necklace I think! No, bag!

Great blue dresses in the front row of BCBG from Giada De Laurentis & Maria Menounous, really beautiful, flattering colors.

Stylist Robert Verdi looked the part in various shades of grey and a stunning two-tone coat. Um... Can I borrow your bag?
Sort of reminds me of my
grey look… But prettier! 🙂

I always look forward to seeing Poppy, she consistently wears something fun and different, no cookie-cutter nonsense for this girl! So what does she wear to the Richard Chai show? Low-key skinnies, a cute Fair Isle sweater & booties. Casual but chic.

Jennifer Nettles was a site for sore eyes at the Peter Som Fall 2012 Show. I love that she was February-appropriate in great tweed & a faux leather pencil skirt, but the bright cobalt pumps stole the show & moved her look up to perfect for the front row!

Amazing. No words.
Who wore the Prabal Gurung floral satin pants better?
Zoe Saldana above or Joan Smalls?

Caroline Sieber's look was picture perfect, I especially love the mixing of similarly colored patterns & fabrics. Very chic.

Hanneli does it again, looking impossibly chic in a striped T and an upside down Acne skirt that I must own.

I'm LOVING the plaid suit here. Rarely does Miss Palermo get out-fashioned, but Zoe pulls it off here.

This past week had some beautiful holiday looks, chic outerwear and great daytime outfits that I just had to share. Enjoy the eye candy!

Miss Rosie shows us just how to dress for a casual day out and about. The extras here are the key, on top of slim jeans and a basic sweater she layered a beautiful rust colored cropped leather jacket, a leopard print scarf, slouchy boots and a to DIE for Celine bag.
This isn’t Rosie’s first time showing off a fun twist on a basic leather jacket, check out her gorgeous appearance at a Burberry show earlier this year
here.
Basically, you’ve been asleep if you haven’t noticed that 2011 was the year of Rosie – The Frugal Fashionista has her best looks
here and Tom & Lorenzo have brilliant and entertaining commentary on her red carpet looks
here. Swoon!

Kate Middleton looked gorgeous in velvet Alexander McQueen and stunning diamond jewelry. Beautiful hair, beautiful makeup, just beautiful.

I love this vintage look from fashion blogger Late Afternoon. The pleated white dress, chunky gold jewelry and big Jackie O glasses are perfection.

I'm not always a huge fan of asymmetrical hemlines, but Poppy Delevigne proved here that she can pull just about anything off and this color looks phenomenal on her. The boots were what really caught my eye though, I'm loving rock n' roll touches right now.

I don't usually include editorials in my Looks of the Week posts but I absolutely fell in love with this shot of Kate Beckinsale for Harper's Bazaar Russia. She looks so adorably mod and Spring-y that I couldn't help but feature her. Great color scheme and styling for this shot, I especially adore the white sunnies.

Not only is Hanneli Mustaparta stunning, she puts together a great outfit. Rather than looking like a Halloween caricature in orange and black , she looks chic and stylish. Need those shoes and clutch STAT. Great example of how to pull of the day clutch look, carry another bag for the rest of yours stuff!

Happy Friday! To celebrate, I say we look at pretty people getting all dressed up. And luckily for us, there were a couple glamorous, star-studded British events this past week with some very eye-catching looks worth mentioning.
2011 British Fashion Awards

Georgia May Jagger continued the Great Gatsby trend in pale, shimmery Julien Macdonald. I miiight have worn a sandal with a dress this delicate, but there's no denying she looks great here!

How can you not love a girl who can get away with flats at a black tie event? Alexa Chung looked adorably retro and chic in Christopher Kane.
Source (For Alexa & Georgia May)
There were two other looks at the 2011 British Fashion Awards that I – GASP – couldn’t make up my mind about… And you want to know what? They were both Matthew Williamson outfits. Go figure.

Olivia Palermo in Matthew Williamson

I should preface this by saying that I’m a little hesitant when it comes to fringe, especially high-octane fringe, but I couldn’t help gasping when I saw this dress. If it was floor length I think the fringe would be too much, but on a cocktail length frock its perfect. But my issue with this look is actually the styling… The hair is a bit severe, I think a gracefully swept back ponytail would have been perfect, and the shoes & clutch are waaay too busy. The key to pulling off this dress is maintaining a level of simplicity with the rest of the look.

Poppy Delevigne in Matthew Williamson
Since I clicked back to this picture three times I decided that I should say something. It’s a beautiful dress and manages to suit her coloring even though strictly speaking I wouldn’t say those are her colors, and I like her simple accessories and loose braid. My issue? The fringe! I think without the small spots of straw-colored carpet fringe (and a little hemming) this would be a picture perfect look.
Moral of the story? I have zero hard & fast rules when it comes to fringe! 🙂
BAFTA Los Angeles 2011 Britannia Awards

Mr. Yelchin is doing quite well on the red carpet lately. What I really like is that he's not wearing boring suits, they all have subtle patterns, interesting fabrics or an embellishment of some sort that make them stand out. And one word. TAILORING.

This is everything that you want in an evening look, its stunning, head turning and fits Asha to a T. I also love the capsleeves and vintage silver earrings. Simply beautiful.

Felicity Jones looks fresh and young in this fitted Moschino with a ballerina skirt. I think her clutch and hair are the perfect touches, keeping the look minimally chic. (I'll be doing a post on Miss Jones next week so stick around if you'd like to see more of her!)
Have a good weekend!

The great events and parties during Milan Fashion Week included the AMFAR gala, the opening of Gucci Museo and dinners celebrating many of the shows.

I am an absolute sucker for the older Italian gentlemen that The Sartorialist shows on his site, so here’s one final Milanese look to tide you over until I’m back with the Parisian shows!

Over the course of the week where designers showed their Fall 2011 Couture collections, the glamorous and fashionable flocked to Paris to sit front at the shows and attend the bevy of cocktail parties, openings, celebrations and festivities that always surround fashion shows.
Below are some of the highlights from the front rows and chic soirees that accompanied this season’s shows:

Yellow was the color de jour and to celebrate Giambattista Valli's first Couture show Olivia Palermo donned the sunny shade perfectly.

- One of the highlights of the front row at Armani was model Arnaud Lemaire, pay attention boys, this is the perfect summer look. Cool colors, clean lines, perfect fit.

I'm a sucker for polka dots (I blame my cousin Chloe and the summer of polka dots) so I adored Poppy Delevigne's breezy maxi dress. She looked chic, cool and relaxed.

Pop Magazine's Shala Monroque looked great at the GV show, her outfit was summery and down to earth, but chic enough for the front row.

Italian Vogue fashion editor Giovanna Battaglia delivers another perfect look. If only the rest of us had someplace to go where we could dress like this...

It's all in the family... Lee Radziwill, the 78-year-old sister of Jackie O, proves that her fashion sense is like fine wine, it just gets better with age.

Guests of Natalia Vodianova's White Fairy Tale Love Ball showcased some spectacular looks in white and silver, but of course Daphne Guinness appeared in rainbow Alexander McQueen and stole the show.

Givenchy model & muse Mariacarla Boscono looked phenomenal at Natalia's ball in her Givenchy couture gown.

I liked that black and white dress Caroline Sieber wore for the GV show, the simple heels and necklace let the chic dress standout.

Diane Kruger is one of my fashion favorites and she did not disappoint while watching the Chanel runway show in this summery, jewel-encrusted asymmetrical number.
Winter and fall are my favorite seasons for both weather and clothing, I can’t imagine anything chicer than great knee-high boots, piling on scarves and gloves or perfectly cut outerwear. So as the weather warms up and the hemlines rise, I’m sometimes at a loss for how to mix up my daily looks to keep me cool in the heat without sacrificing the styles and silhouettes that I love. And while magazines and fashion shows can be a great reminder of what’s out there and available for the season, sometimes seeing real clothes on real people (arguably celebrities aren’t “real” considering the personal trainers and plastic surgery, but you know what I mean) can be just what you need to get excited about a new look, which is what I love about street style.
The couture shows ended with the exclusive Chambre Syndicale de la Couture’s valedictory fete at Louis XIV’s palace in Versailles.
Le sigh!

“Too much may not be enough.” These words, uttered by Karl Lagerfeld after the show, seem to sum it up perfectly.
– The backdrop? Hotel du Cap, in Antibes on the French Riviera, one of the most exclusive and expensive hotels in the world.
– The cast? All the big names from the past few seasons, Abbey Lee, Siri Tollerod, Jac, Natasha Poly, Karlie Kloss, Stella Tennant, Karolina Kurkova and Lily Donaldson, to name a few.
– The jewels? Real, darling. Of course.
– The front row? A-list fashionistas only, Blake Lively, Rachel Bilson, Alexa Chung, Vanessa Paradis, Clemence Posey, Laura Bailey and Poppy Delevigne among them.
The Chanel Resort 2012 collection began with slim, smart suits in yellow, lilac and cream, followed by black and white swimwear, cover-ups and dresses, and finally summery, hippie frocks and gowns.

While the wearability of the shin-guard inspired thong sandals is questionable, I thought that overall the show was lovely. In another life, far, far away, I can just see myself walking lazily along the water in one of these black and white swim suits, a gauzy white wrap thrown over my shoulder, or swirling regally around a ballroom in one of the crystal encrusted gowns. Right.
And the fashion didn’t stop there, off the runway the stars watched Karl’s masterpieces in their own stylish ensembles.

Clemence Posey looked adorable in a sunny dress (reminiscent of the blue one worn by Emma Roberts at the fall Chanel show) and gold heels.

Who wears short shorts? Too cute Rachel Bilson, who donned micro leather shorts, a boyfriend blazer and crocheted white top.

Blake Lively looked gorgeous and summery in a chic black and white Chanel ensemble, including a tiny skirt and sequined blazer.
Overall it was an elegant, sumptuous affaire. Come on Karl, did my invitation get lost in the mail?
