Healthy & Fitness:

Do you track your daily food intake? While it can see daunting to keep track of every single thing that you put in your mouth over the course of the day, it can be a useful and informative project. Commonly people over – or under – estimate their intake of calories, fat, protein, fiber, and vitamins & nutrients. Over the years I’ve tried a handful of programs – From Slimkicker to Livestrong to the My Fitness Pal app (for Android!) that my boyfriend recommends to his CrossFit clients. I highly recommend giving this a try, you may be surprised by what you find out!

I can’t live without music in my day-to-day life and I REALLY can’t live without music at the gym. If I forget my headphones or don’t charge my mp3 player, odds are I’ll skip my workout. So finding new tunes for my fitness sessions is essential – Whether they’re new tracks on the airwaves or I’m rediscovering CDs from my youth.

Roadtrippin’

Happy Monday, I hope that everyone had a great weekend!

I was lucky enough to get out of the city for a few days and drove three hours North of San Francisco to stay on the coast in a place called Sea Ranch. A long, long drive with a couple of stops, lots of snacking, and some killer views.

It was the first time that I’ve pulled my boxes of bathing suits and sumer clothes out of the closet this year. Other than vacations, I rarely wear beach gear so I really only keep a limited supply on hand and if specific events come up I tend to head to Union Square… For me warm weather means patterned maxi dresses, sandals, sundresses, and sarongs.

The drive up Highway 1 was curvy and nausea-inducing, but the highlight – aside from the views – was a quick stop at the Candy & Kites shop. Barrels upon barrels of delicious salt water taffy flavors, tons of old-school candy that you haven’t seen in years, and all the kites you could possibly imagine.

Once we arrived at the gorgeous house the fun really began – great wine, lovely company, quality hot tub time, walks along the bluff, games of corn hole, climbing down to the tide pools, tons of food, sitting on the deck getting sunburned…

But what weekend would be complete without a trip into the tiny local hamlet for a taste of the real Sonoma coast?

One of only a couple restaurants nearby is Bones Roadhouse – a fun and eclectic bar & restaurant with views of crashing waves and an interior that’s guaranteed to keep you entertained for as long as you hang out.

Fried oysters and chicken fried steak for the boys, strawberries for me, and Bloody Mary’s all-around!

But as far as I’m concerned, it’s not a vacation until you’ve had a Mai Tai. Family tradition.

Mission completed.

The trip home was foggy so the views weren’t as spectacular, but we did stop at Whole Foods for road trip snacks. Salad bar, rice chips, and mini vegan chocolate chip cookies.

YUM

It was definitely a weekend to remeber, and one I hope to be able to repeat again in the future. Have to say a quick thank you Danny & Kelsey for sharing their family house – the weekend couldn’t have been more enjoyable!
